The New York Timeskills its TimesSelect subscription program. Now you can get all the paper's columnists -- and most of its archives -- without paying $49.95 per year. The paper says that the program had met expectations -- winning 227,000 subscribers -- but that the expectations had been too low, not taking into account higher online ad rates and the traffic turned away by the pay wall (which, as Mickey Kaus notes, is what everyone had predicted).
The iPhone jumps across the pond: Apple has chosen O2 as the exclusive carrier for the device in the U.K. Brits can get one on Nov. 9.
